Simple and giant molecular solids

At the end of this activity, students should be able to:
– describe the structure of the crystal lattice of covalent compounds
– define the terms simple molecular solid and giant molecular solid
– give some examples of simple and giant molecular solids
– describe the properties of elements and compounds forming simple molecular solids and giant molecular solid crystals
– explain why certain giant molecular solids conduct electricity, and give examples of such solids.
